| || ||The aim is to understand basic concepts and principles of computer communications and computer networks; to be aware of communication functions and their implementations in common computer networks.|
| || ||Internet concept and model of Internet. Model ISO/OSI. TCP, UDP, IP protocols. Addressing in computer networks (local and Internet). Routing in Internet. Multicasting in Internet. Switching and switches. Principles of reliable data transfer. Network interconnections. Multiple access. Error control. Communication services and protocols. Wireless and mobile networks and protocols.|

|Learning outcomes and competences:|
| || ||Student acquaints basic concepts and principles of computer communications and computer networks and will be aware of communication functions and their implementations in common computer networks. Student will learn how to deal with RFC documents which desribe specification of communication protocols in detail. Student will learn how to implement communication protocol with respect to protocol specification in RFC document.|

- Communication model of Internet. ISO/OSI model. Communication services and protocols.
- Application layer and protocols.
- Transport layer. UDP protocol.
- TCP protocol. Socket API.
- Network layer. IP protocol. Addressing and routing.
- Routing protocols.
- Multicast in INternet.
- Link layer and link protocols.
- Switching and switches.
- ATM. Frame Relay.
- High-speed networks. Wireless and mobile networks and protocols.
- Network management.
